TOKYO -- Japan's Eneos, JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration and trading house Mitsubishi Corp. on Friday announced a partnership with a unit of Malaysian state-owned energy giant Petronas on a carbon capture and storage project spanning both countries.

The companies plan to separate and capture carbon dioxide emissions from industrial areas around Tokyo Bay, including an Eneos refinery, before shipping the greenhouse gas in liquid form to Malaysia for storage in depleted oil fields.
